Why Kasauli
Kasauli is one of the closest hill towns to Chandigarh and the Tricity, which makes it an easy weekend trip. It stays quieter than Shimla: colonial-era lanes, pine and oak forest, and long views over the plains.
The town itself is small. The best way to see it is on foot: an early walk, a slow lunch, and sunset from a ridge. Garkhal and Kimughat, just outside the centre, are quieter still, and a good base if you’re driving.
